The Sprouts Business Intelligence (BI) team is chartered with driving growth and profitability through informing and optimizing enterprise business processes to be more scalable, analytically robust, and increasingly data driven. The Senior BI Analyst works effectively with all aspects of the business at multiple levels to design, develop and deliver accurate, actionable analyses and insights. This position leads and develops key business reporting processes, and devises various metrics and KPIs to identify opportunities/risks as well as drive business results. The Senior BI Analyst is expected to utilize an analytical BI background including skills with building and operating ad hoc and batch reports – sourcing raw data from the enterprise data warehouse and syndicated data – to provide reporting advice, metrics and KPIs to respective business partners.

Essential Functions

  • Develops metrics, reports, dashboards, and self-service tools utilizing spreadsheets, databases, and reporting software to design and generate reports as requested
  • Be able to interpret the data, report metrics, calculations, and trends. Be able to perform root cause analysis and provide insights and recommendations based on the data, as well as researching issues/anomalies with data, systems and processes
  • Works closely with business functions – Merchandising, Buying/Procurement, Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain etc. – and IT technical partners to understand and develop reporting project requirements and report mock-ups
  • Guide and direct the technical work in the enterprise data warehouse by acting as the product owner/manager and representing the analytical needs of the end users
  • Maintain steady communication with IT, analytical staff, business partners and leadership on all projects
  • Assists business partners in identifying and delivering on new reporting capabilities. Be able to take reporting asks from idea to implementation
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

4 year college degree in a quantitative discipline required. Post-Graduate level education in a quantitative discipline a plus.

  • 3+ years of experience in a reporting analyst function, and with creating analyses, metrics and reports that drove operational actions and highlighted wins / opportunities
  • Understanding of data warehousing, data modeling and ETL concepts preferred; familiarity with databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and big data platforms such as 1010data etc. desired
  • Strong in SQL and MS Excel; strong attention to detail and analytical abilities required; experience with analytical and statistical tools such as R, Python a plus
  • Understanding of data visualization concepts required
  • Demonstrated problem solving, persistence, flexibility, troubleshooting skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent listening, presentation and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional project partners in a fast-paced, independent environment
