Blue Bottle is writing a new chapter to the story and traditions of coffee and hospitality, and the Retail Recruiter ensures each of our cafes and production facilities have the amazing team members to play their part. You will partner with our retail and coffee/culinary production teams to attract and hire baristas, pastry bakers, roasters, production crew members, and more to build their careers at one of the most exciting and fastest-growing coffee and consumer companies in the world.Take this opportunity to make your mark in one of Blue Bottle’s most important business functions, as we build on what we’ve learned from our first 30 cafes and strive for even greater heights as we open our next 30. This position will be based in Oakland, CA.You will

  • Manage the entire recruiting life-cycle by actively participating in all recruiting related activities and programs for both the retail and production (coffee and culinary) teams
  • Deploy innovative and effective tactics in candidate sourcing including community partnerships, referrals, networks, social channels, events, competitor analysis and more
  • Meet weekly recruiting targets and partner with training teams to ensure a warm handover of all new hires
  • Partner with our business leaders in retail and production and at headquarters to develop and iterate on hiring plans that accelerate us toward our growth and business goals
  • Create and keep improving upon a hospitable recruiting journey that every one of our candidates (even the turndowns!) and our hiring teams raves about and that shows the best of Blue Bottle
  • Maintain high quality standards for our hiring based on role-specific competencies, and help us evolve our interview and assessment processes to meet them with every hire
  • Collaborate with team members on a variety of cross-cutting initiatives including employee orientation/onboarding, talent planning, group interviewing programs, compliance, technology implementation, etc.

You have

  • 3-5 years of experience driving recruiting efforts in high volume, high hiring bar environments in retail
  • Experience in competency-based, behavioral interviewing techniques
  • Exceptional presentation skills and the ability to facilitate and conduct group interviews
  • Last but not least, a deep love for great coffee, food, and exceptional guest experiences
