The Microbiologist Technician’s concentration is to carry out and own the microbiological program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following.

  • Performs standardized microbiological testing on in process and finished beer.
  • Collect sterile samples and plate for microbial analysis.
  • Assist with determining yeast health
  • Generate and monitor ATP swab data
  • Work with QA and Production personnel to determine root cause and possible solutions for microbial issues.
  • Report and track microbial data
  • Ensures analytical equipment is properly maintained; comes up with suggestions to upgrade or improve equipment.
  • Fulfills all analytical requirements of Stone Brewing and is able to document and report all results in an organized manner.
  • Prepare stock solutions and medium plates.
  • Assists in the maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Must be able to complete, maintain, and analyze laboratory data
  • Perform Autoclaving and decontamination of the laboratory
  • Assist in the maintenance and tracking of inventory of a museum of packaged beer.
  • Assist in maintaining a professional and clean lab.

Summary

Carry out and own the microbiological program. Some additional cross training will occur to cover analytical methods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs standardized microbiological testing on in-process and finished beer.
  • Collect sterile samples, perform culture plating functions and read-analyze-interpret culture plates for microbial analysis.
  • Assist with determining yeast health and maintaining yeast cultures
  • Generate and monitor ATP swab data
  • Work with QA and Production personnel to determine root cause and possible solutions for microbial issues.
  • Ensures analytical equipment is properly maintained; comes up with suggestions to upgrade or improve equipment.
  • Fulfills all analytical requirements of Stone Brewing and is able to document and report all results in an organized manner.
  • Report and track microbial data
  • Prepare stock solutions and medium plates.
  • Assists in the maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Must be able to complete, maintain, and analyze laboratory data
  • Perform Autoclaving and decontamination of the laboratory
  • Assist in maintaining a professional and clean lab.
  • Maintain safety within the brewery and lab at all times.

Required Experience

College degree in Microbiology, Biology or related field, 2 years of related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Knowledge of GMP a plus. Brewery or food manufacturing experience a plus.
